"All Too Well" is the song from RED that took me the longest to write because it was the first song that I wrote for Red and I was going through something that was so hard, that was almost like stifling, so I wrote all these verses from beginning to end of this relationship and it ended up being like a ten-minute song, so I called up my friend and co-writer Liz Rose, and I was like, ‘can you please come help me sort through this?’.
